ABOUT

The website Watch & Pray is managed by Elizabeth Jordaan from South Africa. Elizabeth has been involved in Missions and Prayer for 30 years. She joined OM in 1992 and was responsible for training in short term mission outreaches in Southern Africa for three years. In 1995 she joined the OM Prayer ministry and became involved with NUPSA (Network for United Prayer in Southern Africa). NUPSA separated from OM in 1998 and was renamed Jericho Walls International Prayer Network. Elizabeth served with Jericho Walls International Prayer Network for 24 years until 2021, mainly in training on prayer, writing prayer material, initiating prayer initiatives, prayer outreaches and prayer journeys both nationally and internationally, in conjunction with other local, national, and international prayer networks.

Watch & Pray is an intercessory ministry, focused on praying for the church, the nations and a harvest of souls to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

The Watch & Pray logo, representing a flame, depicts the work of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Redemption, Regeneration and Sanctification of human beings. It also represents personal worship and intercessory prayer lovingly offered to God at his throne of grace.

Statement of Faith (Adaptation of Nicene Creed)

We believe:

  • in one God, the Almighty Father, Creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible;
  • – in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages; light out of light, true God out of true God, begotten not made; of the same substance with the Father, through whom all things came into being. He descended from heaven for us and for our salvation, was incarnated and made flesh by the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary and was born as a human. He was crucified for us at the time of Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, descended into Hades (hell or the realm of the dead); arose from the dead on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended to the heavens and sat down at the right hand of the Father as the Head of the Church and our great High-Priest; He shall return from heaven to earth in His glory, to judge the living and the dead; He shall reign as King of the nations in Jerusalem, and of His kingdom there will be no end;
  • in the Holy Spirit, the life-giving Lord, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is worshipped and exalted together with the Father and the Son; He spoke through the prophets; He now lives in the Church as our Comforter. As the Spirit of Truth He must lead us into all truth. He builds believers as living stones into a dwelling place of the Father and the Son;
  • in one universal Church, the fellowship of believers, the Body of Christ with many members, founded on the teaching and doctrine of the apostles and prophets;
  • in one baptism for the forgiveness of sin, by which we are baptised into the death of Jesus Christ and are raised with Him into new life;
  • in the resurrection of the dead and eternal life in the world to come;
  • that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, by Christ alone, for the glory of God alone;
  • that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, written by many authors through the ages who were inspired by the Spirit of God. It contains the very words of God Himself and is the primary revelation of God to us as human beings. The Bible is our highest authority in spiritual and civilian life, demands our submission and obedience to a God, and reveals to us the covenant, promises and blessings of God. The Word of God, as the Sword of the Spirit, is able to sanctify, cleanse, heal and transform the human heart.
