Faith is like a child in the mother’s arms: Delivered from sin by an act of faith and sanctified from sin by a continued act of faith. Then your life is no longer a constant disappointment, but a never-ending victory.
True faith is based on knowledge of what God has revealed to us about Himself in His Word and which I recognize and consider to be true and trustworthy. Faith is also a firm trust that works in my heart through the Holy Spirit, through the gospel, that God also grants me, just like other people, forgiveness of sin, out of grace, only for the sake of the merits of Christ and not earned by myself.
